UPDATE: Lil Wayne’s jail sentence has been postponed until March 2, 2010. According to reports, Wayne’s lawyer requested the judge give her client more time for dental work.
It ain’t prison. It’s jail. Let’s get it straight, alright? After being sentenced to 12 months in the NYC jail system as part of his plea agreement, Lil Wayne, most affectionately known as Weezy, is expected to immediately begin fulfilling his sentence — pre-prepped for a little life on the inside.
(In the midst of pushing this to cyber-publish, the court announced that they’re delaying Wayne’s sentencing to early March, so he can complete a process of dental surgeries — seriously, dental surgeries. Regardless…)
Yes, Cash Money Records is relocating to New York for the duration of his incarceration, allowing state resident Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. to keep laying down beats and rhymes while he serves his time, via iPod, pen and paper. Yes, Rolling Stone made him their most recent cover boy, glorifying his last hours of freedom in the year 2010. Yes, Lil Wayne plans to keep things rolling from the inside, you know, throwing out a few tweets from the library, probably eating better than my family, increasing brand recognition and thus increasing monetary wealth while the public pays for the maintenance and overall cost of his stay.
Think Weezy might offer discounts and free downloads post-incarceration? Think President Obama will continue to use Lil Wayne as his go-to reference in the world of rap and hip-hop? You think Wayne will stop carrying guns? Did we care that he was possessing one in the first place? Honestly, I didn’t. Don’t shoot me or anyone else who doesn’t want to get shot, and we’re golden. The most important question: Do you think you could have gotten only 12 months in a city jail if pleading guilty for the same crime?
It sounds like a spout of hate, but it’s not the player that I hate. I think Dwayne Michael Carter is an extremely talented, tattooed breath of perspective (not one that I always agree with), and I appreciate his sportsmanship even more than his music. But the game? I hate the game. The game is a joke. They simply shouldn’t call it a 12 month sentence — let’s call it what it is: A mandatory writer’s retreat.

I'm fine with the idiots who throw away their money on buying shitty music - chalk it up to a matter of personal preference and the never ending quest to look cool and hopefully get laid - but I do take issue when tax payers dollars are involved - and wrist slaps are postponed for "dental" reasons? Boo. Has the court not seen that blinged out grill? E-bay that to pay for his incarceration!

Finally someone who sees the truth of the matter. They shouldn't let him get out, and give him a rough time while he's in there. Make his days miserable like the type of crappy music he makes and that God awful pathetic look.

ya gay. lil wayne doesnt deserve to be put up like dat. billions of people are going to miss him. his music will still be playing all over the world even if he is locked up. he doesnt deseerve to be put away just because he had a gun. lots of people have guns. lil wayne is a celebrity and needs to keep a gun at his side, cause wat if some crazy person walks up to him and kills his bodyguard and tries to kill him too. he aint going to beable to protect his self with that crazy person has a gun or a knife. having a gun isnt a big deal. it isnt like he was going to go through and shot someone for da fun of it. I LOVE YOU DEWAYNE CARTER!!!

It's as simple as this, Your Rap isn't my rap, your shit speaks to noone who matters in this world, money, bitches, gangs, and drugs, that shit doesn't mean a damn thing, other then you're trying to be what you aren't, a player, and before you say, well they rap about dead friends and loved ones, yea well 75% of those kids probably got killed in some gang or drug related incident, so good on ya for glorifying that which needs to be removed from our society, the GangBanging lifestyle.
