sarcLet Manolith hop on this hot trend, and suggest that you share it with all your friends and family (insert SarcMark here). I don’t have the keystroke, and no, I’m not paying two bucks to get it. What is it, you ask? You mean you haven’t heard? It’s the new punctuation mark denoting sarcasm. It’s the SarcMark.

In all sincerity(a set up for sarcasm), if there is anything we need more of in this country it’s sarcasm and cynicism. And when it comes right down to the literary arts (you know, blogs), there’s nothing better than writers complaining about sarcasm and cynicism while using…sarcasm and cynicism.

Sure, there’s the argument that if you need a SarcMark, then you probably shouldn’t be using sarcasm, but as we all know, sarcasm has more to do with tone than content. Some people, regardless of the written word being bathed in the sweat of the late, great George Carlin, don’t…get…sarcasm. And for the people who poorly execute sarcasm, I would certainly love to see a few SarcMark’s via instant message or email – save me a whole lot of time from needing to respond to poor attempts at clever complaints or suggestions.

In all sincerity. Seriously, sincerity – allow me to share an opinion. Sarcasm is a refined art. When you’ve got it, you’ve got it, and when you don’t, maybe the straightforward approach is what works best for you – or you might consider a lifetime investment in the SarcMark.

I really can’t decide what’s worse, people paying 99 cents for what could be an opinion-based answer from KGB, or buying the SarcMark after seeing this commercial. Best of luck to the SarcMarksters, though.
