Johnny Depp Unsurprisingly Directing Documentary On Keith Richards

Depp-1He would, wouldn’t he?

Johnny Depp likes rock music. Johnny Depp wants you to know that.

Which is why Johnny Depp is directing a documentary on Keith Richards. You have to hand it to Johnny Depp he seems like he’s pretty consistent with his affections on certain subjects. Which makes me wonder if he isn’t just constantly high. Lord knows I would be. You’ve got your own private island, act in movies that you never watch, and just pal around with rockstars all day. Why WOULDN’T you be high?

According to an interview, Depp is working on a documentary about the aged rocker. No word yet if anyone’s casually told him that Martin Scorcese just did the same thing, but he’s Johnny Depp. He’s probably over it already. The film is Depp’s first attempt at directing since 1997’s The Brave, a movie that was savaged by critics for being, well, terrible. The fact he’s trying his hand at directing a documentary on a subject that he’s obsessed with isn’t really that surprising, it’ll be more surprising if it’s actually good.

I would be even less shocked if he decided to have Tim Burton as the DP, Helena Bonham Carter as the narrator, and Danny Elfman doing the score.
