Oh Danica… Go Daddy has her straight-up, Weird Science in this one. No, not another shower scene. We’re talkin’ hair teased, pink back lighting, boys underpants. Yeah.
I know a lot of people get giddy when she hits the screen, but I’m still not sold on Danica Patrick as the Go Daddy spokesperson. Sure, I get the business aspect of it, and I get the fact that she’s cute, petite and drives over 200 miles per hour – nothing wrong with that! So, who cares that she can’t act her way out of a cardboard box, right? I’ll give her a hearty pat on the back and say that she is getting better. If only she would dip into some of the feisty passion she displays when something doesn’t go her way on the track, people might actually start watching TV again. Oh man, I can’t wait to see her behind the wheel in NASCAR next season. Seriously, it is must see TV. Digressing…
Go Daddy has pumped a ton of flow into their 2010 Super Bowl ad campaign, and while several have been given the red light from CBS as being too controversial, it looks as if this one will fly…straight back to the 80s? And if Weird Science isn’t enough, they’ve capped the ad with “the shot” from Flashdance. So much for originality.
