Sandra Bullock, considered a lock for an Oscar nomination for her role in “Blind Side,” where she plays a white person that helps a black person, has also been nominated for a Razzie for her role in “All About Steve” where she plays, well, no one was really sure what she was supposed to be playing. But she played it, and now she might be the first actor to win the award for both best and worst actor of the year. “Blind Side” was a heartwarming tale of a white family helping a black person do things that could have only been better if they had, “also helped a Mexican woman, a handicapped child, and an elderly mentally disabled man.” The role was a dramatic one-eighty from Sandra Bullock’s last big serious role in “Crash,” in which she played a white woman who hindered Mexican people.
It is a well known fact that helping or hindering minorities in films makes them Oscar worthy, which was probably part of why “All About Steve” was not recognized by the Academy.
Sandra Bullock’s performance in “Blind Side” has been hailed as “groundbreaking” and “subtle and affecting,” while Sandra Bullock’s performance in “All About Steve” has been hailed as “a giant misstep” and “though the performance in no way dealt with Palestinian/Israeli relations, it is so bad that it is sure to set those relations back thousands of years, simply from the terrible mood the performance puts people in. Also, I blame Sandra Bullock’s performance in ‘All About Steve’ for global warming.”
