It’s not like I’m not a fan of saving the world. I’m a huge fan of saving the world. I think people should dedicate more of their time to saving the world, and if people did that, the world would truly be a better place. But come on, you’re remaking a rambly-80s style ballad. These are supposed to be the most brilliant minds in music coming together to help save the world. Couldn’t one of them have busted out a guitar, and started coming up with a new song? Seriously? It’s not that much work. Chances are the guy who arranged the schedules of everyone had a much harder job than a group of singers and musicians would have to write a new song. Like, seriously. Seriously. It’s for Haiti. Maybe they thought the name-recognition would make more money.
It’s bad enough the Grammy awards were just a dog and pony show, and the music that sells the most year after year is mostly the stuff that yuppies can get themselves into, or 13-year-olds. You can’t write a new inspirational song to help save people all over the world? Goddamn it.
