Okay, it’s going to be hard to not fill this article with pun after pun after pun, considering it’s about the New York Knicks, but I’m really gonna try.
While the Knicks were on the road a couple of weeks ago, several of the players claimed to have felt ghosts in their hotel, thus causing them to blow their January 11 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder by 18 points. Now, I’m all for the paranormal, but blaming the loss on the spirits? Man, that’s low. It was probably just Kevin Durant looking for an ice bucket.
For two days, a bunch of the players claimed to have trouble sleeping because they believed that their downtown hotel, the Skirvin Hilton, was haunted. Eddy Curry said that he only slept for two hours Sunday night because he couldn’t stop thinking about ghosts roaming the halls.
“I definitely believe it,” Jared Jeffries said. “The place is haunted. It’s scary.”
Legend has it that a woman in the 1930s jumped to her death while holding her baby in her arms. Other guests have been reporting strange noises and sightings for years, but as far as I know, this is the first time a professional sports team has used the excuse.
“They said it happened on the 10th floor and I’m the only one staying on the 10th floor,” Curry said. “That’s why I spent most of my time in Nate Robinson’s room. I definitely believe there are ghosts in that hotel.” Yeah, that’s why, Eddy.
Assistant Coach Herb Williams, who I guess had no trouble getting some Z’s, teased Jeffries and Curry for believing in ghosts, but the players were having none of that.
“There are too many stories,” Curry said. “Something is going on there.”
It should be noted that Jeffries and Curry are 10th and 12th on the team’s PPG average, and are currently in talks to appear in Ghostbusters 3. Okay, I made that last part up.

Okay, now that's just funny. Not the ghost part, but the blaming the ghosts for the loss of a big game part. Maybe they should research hotels better before traveling, or not share information about major hauntings with the players. Or they could always book rooms in another hotel for those who can't sleep without a nightlight.

Knicks have a better chance seeing ghosts then they do making the playoffs.
