Johnny Depp was the victim of an Internet hoax this week claiming he was dead. Johnny Depp spent the entire weekend alive, and then continued to be alive all this week, despite rumors. Further rumors that Johnny Depp was alive, but that he did die, and that early this morning he came back from the dead lusting for sweet, sweet brains but then was quickly killed again by a crossbow bolt through the head fired by a tough-talking African American man who was then heard to remark, ” You just got Depp-sixed, motherfucker,” are also not true.
Johnny Depp is a fantastic actor who has spent his career choosing fascinating and thought provoking roles — well, up until he started making “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequels, but to be fair, he only did that because he needed money to complete a Death Star.
This isn’t the first time a popular entertainment personality has been the victim of an Internet hoax, Paris Hilton was the victim of a hoax when an untrue rumor began on the Internet that she had been stabbed in jail, Britney Spears was the victim of a hoax when Internet rumors spread that she overdosed, and Rob Schneider was the victim of a 2006 hoax when rumors began going around the Internet that he was attractive.
