According to people who have heard it. Joaquin Pheonix’s unreleased rap album is comparable to the all-time greats — the Beatles, Bowie, and Oasis. Wait a minute, Oasis? One of these things is not like the other.
If you’re going to make grand hyperbolic statements, though, don’t restrain yourself. Just compare it to the dawn of Gregorian chant, or the ancient instruments fashioned in the plains of Africa. That’d sound just as good. Say that his music can cure incurable diseases, make butterflies land on the heads of the disadvantaged, things of that nature. When can the public hear Joaquin’s album? When can we hear his dulcet tones descend from above? I’m anxious. I’m sweaty. I need to hear Joaquin talk about DJs and having your pants on the floor, and having beards on late night talk shows. Local LA musician Julian Shah-Taylor told E! News all about the album.
“So coming out with a brilliant album of great music would not surprise anybody, and I think that’s maybe why he didn’t release it.”
I really think that releasing an album of brilliant music would surprise a lot of people. Mainly, all of them. All the people. Every single one of them.
