Oh, god, yes. I can stop holding my breath, my bated, anticipatory breath. Be still me heart. I have longed for a new Conan the Barbarian since I saw the old movie and thought of how the themes expressed were still applicable and practical in the modern age.
I mean, if you’ve been hemming and hawwing about the proper casting for the Conan part, all your fears will be alleviated. All your problems will be soothed. A legion of manly hands will rub your weary shoulders as you hear the screams of your enemies and the lamentation of your women. Get ready. It’s Jason Momoa.
Who, you ask? Exactly. You have no idea who the guy is. You have no idea why they’re going to kick-start the Conan franchise again. You’re just as lost as I am, like a puppy looking for his father, wondering why every new Hollywood project is a remake, sequel or a technically good film but heartrendingly depressing
Conan the Barbarian? Why not make a Driving Miss Daisy sequel, where everyone gets shot up at the end, by Miss Daisy? Why not remake a Walk To Remember, or His Girl Friday? It’s not the remakes that are the most bothersome, it’s that they’re remaking terrible movies from the past in the hopes they’ll start good, new franchises.
But I don’t know a single person who’s like, “HOLY BALLS. WE HAVE TO SEE CONAN RIGHT NOW.”

There should be a law against remakes. Tired of them.

You'd think that with the Internet and wikipedia only a google search away, more people would know that Conan was based on a series of stories by Robert E. Howard, a writer whose work is represented in the Library of America and Penguin Classics, alongside the greats of literature, and that the original film had little if anything to do with the stories. Complaining about a new Conan film is as senseless as complaining about the Nolan Batman films as "remakes" of the terrible '60s Batman series.

Conan the Barbarian was a mighty hero in Hybrian Age, just like Atila the Hun, Braveheart, Spartacus, Geighis Khan, Frederick the Barbarossa, and many others great warriors and leaders. Today we need someone like Conan to bring peace on Earth!
