Production Starting on Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal-1If you saw one horrifying movie last year, chances are you saw Paranormal Activity. Guess what? You’ll be able to catch the sequel very, very soon.

Paranormal Activity was the run-away hit of this last year in terms of sleeper films, making its creators super-wealthy. Wealthy enough to hire actual ghosts, to haunt an actual house filled with actual people that they can kill in the third act.

The original movie cost 15,000, and went on to gross over 100 million dollars. 100 million dollars on a budget of 15,000. That’s really impressive. But if you see the movie, you can tell most of that budget went to equipment and sets, which they used 100 million times in the actual movie. It’s basically a couple lying in bed being terrorized, which if they really wanted to get an idea of the reality of that situation, they’d film my neighbors when I’m playing guitar at 3AM.

The director of the next segment of the franchise? The same that directed Saw IV. That’s right. The team that brought you the world’s most profitable torture porn series is going to try their best to bring you the most subtle and refined horror movie of an annoying couple trapped in a house with a demon.

You know, the entire movie I was thinking, “If I were in a relationship with someone who had a demon following her around everywhere, and she was pretty annoying, I would probably dump her, and she could deal with the demon at her mom’s house. And kill two birds with one stone.”

The sequel will be released next October. Just in time for milkin’.
