What’s The Big Deal About Cougars?

By Mark Lorenz on January 19th, 2010

People have been making a big to-do about cougars lately. What with the television shows and the Jennifer Aniston and the kids and the rap music and the Jello pudding, cougars are everywhere. They’re hiding in the bushes, they’re driving their SUVs, and they’re hiding in movie theaters. But the latest controversy? Ads featuring them.

I’m thankful for the people of New Zealand. They give us great comedy, agriculture, and loads of sheep shagging jokes. They even made a movie about killer sheep. Literally, killer sheep, which was a scream to watch. Now, they’re giving us a reason to cheer for cougars, airing ads about their mating habits and propensity for stalking men. An ad for Air New Zealand, under the guise of a fake nature documentary, details their plight. This has caused consternation from rape prevention groups. Wait, rape prevention groups are up in arms about cougars? It’s an ad. Watch it. It’s neither offensive, nor particularly hilarious, it’s just an advertisement. Also, it has nothing to do with airlines, which I think violates some kind of advertisement rule. You can’t be showing a man in sunglasses and a bowler hat drinking milk, and then cut to the Jack Daniel’s logo.

Or CAN you? I’m going to be really pissed if that’s what their next ad is.

Enjoy your cougars. If you’ve had good cougar experiences, feel free to leave them in the comments.

What's the big deal is it one rule for men and a different. Men have behaving in similar fasion for years. It must be some male person who is making those decision. Cougers have fun its just a case of envy amongs our male counterpart.
