Canseco to McGwire: There’s No Crying in Baseball

By Chris Stout on January 14th, 2010

mcgwire and cansecoAfter scoring a gig as a hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, Mark McGwire finally admitted to using steroids this week. His long overdue admission has been met with different reactions, but by far the most hilarious response came from former Bash Brother and fellow juicer Jose Canseco.

Canseco is a pretty unique character. Shunned by so many for being a rat and a douchebag, Canseco has been spot-on with his steroid accusations ever since he released his tell-all book “Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits, and How Baseball Got Big” back in 2005. In the book, Canseco claimed that he introduced McGwire and a bunch of other major leaguers to the wonders of the juice. Canseco claimed that he personally injected McGwire’s ass with roids in multiple major league bathroom stalls.

Now McGwire may have come clean on his roid use, but he still says Canseco is a liar.

“Jose is out there doing what he’s doing, but I’m not going to stoop down to his level,” McGwire said in an interview on ESPN on Tuesday. “None of that stuff happened. He knows it. I know it. I’m not going to stoop down to that level.”

In a separate interview with Bob Costas on the MLB network, Big Mac broke down and cried. I guess Canseco thought it was a pretty puss move, so he did his own interview with ESPN. He called out Big Mac and former coach Tony LaRussa (who said he just found out about McGwire’s roid use this week!). Never one to shy away from a camera, Canseco put himself in the spotlight while taking a shot at McGwire’s baseball manliness.

“What McGwire has suffered – and I can say straight to McGwire’s face – is nothing, not even remote to what I’ve suffered,” Canseco said. “And he sits there and starts crying. Mark, there’s no crying in baseball, you know that.”

Moded McGwire. Moded.
