This whole late night talk show debacle has been great material for, well, late night talk shows. They love to make fun of each other, but now it just seems like they’re all ready to rise up and kill Jay Leno.
Conan O’ Brien seems like he’s a great boss, a good guy. Jay Leno just defines middle-of-the-road so much that he has become the road. And other comics and hosts seem intent on informing the world of this. Jimmy Kimmel, for instance, did the entirety of his late night show dressed like Jay. I think that’s the first time in the world a late night talk show host parodied another late night talk show host on his own late night talk show. David Letterman talked about the situation briefly on CBS, and Craig Ferguson said he’d never work for NBC, as they are a den of thieves and crooks. And again, Conan trashed NBC. I just hope his show becomes an angry diatribe against NBC. That’d be comic gold.
On the internet, a wave of support for Conan has taken over Twitter, and other blogging websites. Which begs the question, why weren’t you watching his show en masse? Why must we support him from afar now?
Still, the most I’ve ever seen a talk show host bag on another one is David Letterman’s passing shots at Jay Leno. Kimmel just ripped him apart last night. It was brutal. Check it out.
