Lloyd Banks Arrested For Assault

Are you all ready for G-Unit to fall into irrelevancy? So are the members of G-Unit. Because they’re assaulting and robbing promoters who organize their shows.

G-Unit, for those of you who have forgotten about them already, are the group that catapulted to fame off the back of its senior member, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. At its height the group included Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck. I went and saw Tony Yayo and Spider Loc in concert, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We narrowly avoided a stabbing at the House of Blues. Anyway, as the years progressed, the group became more and more irrelevant, with Young Buck leaving, Tony Yayo rapping poorly on 50’s singles, and gangster rap becoming more and more passé.

Enter Lloyd Banks circa Sunday night. After a lackluster turnout at a concert, with the opening act drawing more than him, Banks cornered the promoter in his hotel room. The promoter, whose name has not been released, refused to pay him based on the fact that he left at the very beginning of his set.

So what’d Banks and three of his associates do? Assaulted and robbed the promoter. In Kitchener, Ontario. Guess what? Canada doesn’t fuck around. Chances are, they’ll be put in prison.

One of the last hurrahs of gangster rap.
