U2 Made Bank Last Year

U2-1There are a number of constants in this world. Death, taxes, and never ever ever seeing a day when U2 doesn’t make a shitton of money. Amounts that leave your mouth hanging open. The online ticket sale counters at Pollstar have released their list of highest grossing concert tours of the year.

And guess what was number  1? Guess. Frank Stallone? No. Jimmy Buffet? He’s still touring, and I have no idea how that works, but no. It’s U2. It will always be U2 until the world stops spinning on its axis in 2012. Until fire and angels rain from the sky, U2 will always have the top grossing tour of the year. Actually, that’s the name of their next album, fire and angels. Not really. But it’ll have a song about fire and angels. They made 123 million touring. All of that will go to establishing Bono his own African country.

Nipping at Bono’s hells? Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Bruce is still putting on three hour shows and more, so it’s good he’s getting recompensed for all the effort he puts in. And wearing his ridiculously tight jeans.

The rest of the list? Elton John/Billy Joel, AC/DC, Jonas Brothers, Dave Matthews Band, Fleetwood Mac, and Metallica.

Also, Britney Spears. But you’ll notice the rest of the people on this list can play an instrument, and know they’re on tour. So Britney’s unique in that regard.
