Hey, you. Yes, you. How would you like to own a piece of Back to the Future? You can’t. But how about the next best thing? How would you like a fan-built, fully functional DeLorean? Are you crying? I know, there’s so much beauty in the world. I can’t take it either.
Gary Weaver, a Back to the Future enthusiast (and that’s putting it lightly), has placed a gem on eBay. A diamond in the rough of vintage clothes and modded Xboxes. A life-sized, detail-specific (down to the tires), time traveling, fully customized DeLorean. Which looks and lights up exactly like the one in the films. Which films, you ask? Leave, before I punch you through the interwebs.
The entire project took six years of research– which had to have been awkward to explain to friends and loved ones—and countless hours of work in the garage to get it to the exact specifications from the movie.
If I were building a replica DeLorean, I’d insist that my friends dress up as characters from Back to the Future. And then we’d just hang out, invite people over and act like there was nothing wrong, and nothing suspicious going on. That is my dream.
The replica costs 88k, so if you’re an eccentric millionaire, got cash to blow, or are Robert Zemeckis after seeing Avatar, pony up.
Seriously. Bid on it here.
