Every year, there’s a tradition in our house, where we watch The Muppet’s Christmas Carol. It’s one of the lesser popular Christmas movies, which many people deferring to National Lampoon, or A Christmas Story. But you know what? It owns. It’s hilarious, it’s satirical, and has Michael Caine singing and dancing. Which is why whenever the Muppets sing, I’m game.

And sing they did, on Jimmy Fallon. Oh, sing they did. The Muppets make musical appearances 10x as fun. It’s a law of nature, similar to gravity or inertia. They make Weezer videos incredibly fun, and semi-boring late night talk show hosts interesting, as well. So here’s a clip of them singing the 12 days of Christmas with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots. Mercifully, Jimmy Fallon did not play guitar.

The Roots and The Muppets together is pretty much my idea of heaven.

So this morning, when you’re with the family, if you’ve got John Denver’s Christmas album, the one he cut with the Muppets, and for some reason is more compelling than most of John Denver’s back catalogue, pop it in. Pour out some Christmas nog or a 40 of German gluewine, and get in the spirit. With Pepe the king prawn, Jimmy Fallon, and company.
