Otters Escape From A Plane

By Mark Lorenz on December 24th, 2009

Otter-1You know, sometimes travel can be stressful. With the waiting for your bags, the planes being delayed, the douchebag airport staff not sympathizing if you leave a bag behind on the plane. So it’s nice to know that sometimes the tension of holiday travel can be broken up by a pair of escaped otters. You heard me. Otters.

Otters are one of the world’s cutest animals. Not only do they look ridiculous when they run, but they spend the majority of their time on their back, being adorable. Which no other animal has the courtesy to do. So otters win at life. Also, they win at comedy, as evidenced by this story.

Passengers in Houston were sitting on a Continental Airlines flight, waiting to depart, when allegedly, they saw otters make a run for it on the tarmac. They had escaped from the cargo hold, clearly, trying to emulate their heroes from the film Madagascar. They were told, by the captain, that the plane had to be delayed while someone went to wrangle the otters.

Okay, think about that. Think about hearing that reason for being delayed. That would make my life. Then think about turning out your window, and watching a bunch of workers in reflective clothing, chasing otters that are running for their lives. Then think about Samuel L. Jackson turning to you and going, “WE NEED TO GET THOSE MOTHERFUCKIN’ OTTERS BACK.”

Gold. Pure gold.
