It wouldn’t be Christmas without Snoopy. At least, not for me. Every year I watch It’s Christmastime, Charlie Brown, and bawl like someone told me there was no Santa and I have an incurable disease. Which is why it makes me happy that he’s been named the top dog in pop culture history.
What? No Marmaduke? Aren’t they making that into a movie with Owen Wilson? Of course there’s no Marmaduke. If there were a dogfight, Snoopy would rip Marmaduke’s head off. Thankfully, he’s much too sweet for that. The American Kennel Club, in an effort to celebrate dogs everywhere and have their servers bombarded by voters from 4chan and Howard Stern, set up an online vote as to which were the most popular dogs in history. Snoopy, thankfully came at number one. The Baha Men came in at number 9. The famous painting of dogs playing poker, which drove Homer Simpson mad, came in at number six.
This is not me being a jackass, this is me just stating the facts.
Snoopy and the Peanuts gang belong to the most widely read strip of all time. Linus & Lucy is one of the most recognizable themes of all time. And now Snoopy, according to the AKC is the top dog of all time.
Peanuts rule. The end.
