Picture the scenario: you plug an address into your GPS, and are off on your way. But whenever you approach the address you’ve plugged in, you just roll right by a hill. What’s the problem? Well, if you’re in Switzerland, it may be because your destination was built into a hill. And is absolutely, undeniably beautiful.
A Dutch architecture firm, and Christian Müller Architects have built the house I repeatedly tried making as a kid: a beautiful one inside of a hill. Something worthy of David the Gnome. Not only that, but one that opens up with a panoramic view of the sky, to look at beautiful Swiss mountains. That you can then compress into hot chocolate. To make sure everything isn’t pitch-black and hilly at night, the actual depth of the home is very shallow, thereby allowing light to get in the huge opening. Which is how they discovered you inside your mother. Jesus, I’m sorry. I will donate a dollar to the universe’s bad joke fund.
Quoting my AP US History teacher, it all goes back to a city upon a hill. Or in this case, a house built in the side of hill. Enjoy more beautiful views here.
