Bluetooth E-Wallet Is Awesome

By Mark Lorenz on December 2nd, 2009

I-Wallet-1I lose my wallet a lot. Whether it be in a bar, a bookshop, or in an elevator shared with small children. Who are pointing and laughing at me. Which is why the bluetooth wallet is a godsend.

Albeit a very expensive godsend. The principle behind the iWallet is whenever it gets out of range of your bluetooth enabled phone, both of them beep until you’re reunited. The range is about 15-30 feet. Which is awesome if you’ve lost your wallet, not so awesome if you left it behind as a decoy to distract a man hunting you with a gun.

Also featured on the wallet, biometrics. Meaning, you can only open it with a scan of your fingerprint. Which doesn’t bode well if you burn your fingers in a vat of hot oil, and have to open your iWallet to get the number of a local doctor. Barring that very specific scenario, though, it seems like it’d be a cool thing to have.

Only one problem though. The iWallet costs around 600 bucks for the carbon fiber and kevlar version. Only 300 for the fiberglass version, but I got my current wallet for ten, and then just pray I don’t leave it places.

I think if you got robbed, losing a 600 iWallet would just sting a bit more. Rather, they should make it cheaper, and electrified, so then I can send my friend out to get milk for me.
