First Iron Man 2 Poster Released

As a manly man full of hulking testosterone-driven, cow-shattering rage, I appreciated the first “Iron Man” movie. I thought it was really weird watching The Big Lebowski play a villain, and the third act hinged on you not finding that ridiculous, but Robert Downey Jr. tore it up. Which is why I’m excited to see what they do in “Iron Man 2.”

The poster features War Machine. For those of you unfamiliar with the War Machine plotline of Iron Man, Tony Stark relapses into alcoholism. Unable to defeat his enemies, James Rupert Rhodes, played by Terrence Howard in the first film and Don Cheadle in the next, dons the Iron Man suit and assumes his identity. I have no idea how the screenwriters are going to play it, only that I will enjoy watching Mickey Rourke play a role he was born to play: a supervillain. Scarlett Johansson will also make an appearance as Black Widow.

I was fortunate enough to tour the lots where they were shooting “Iron Man 2,” and the sound stage they were working with was the size of a ship harbor. I think it was literally the largest sound-stage in Los Angeles. So here’s hoping it’ll blow up. And we’ll be given more tongue-in-cheek superhero fun, and not a movie like “Spiderman 3.”
