Them-Crooked-Vultures-1

For those of you who listen to mindless pop radio, this is probably off your radar. But for everyone else who enjoys talented rock musicians, this is the perfect storm. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, and Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age and Kyuss, are all together. In the same band. Epic.

I have a special place for them in my heart, since they chose to debut their band at the METRO in Chicago. For those of you that don’t know, the Metro usually hosts scores of small local bands on the same bill, not huge names re-united together. Queens Of The Stone Age, if you can catch them, are one of the best live bands in the world.

But Them Crooked Vultures are here. Their album drops in a few weeks, and then they embark on a world tour, ready to blow collective minds.

You can listen to the entire album here.

Give it a listen. There’s hard driving funk, Homme on vocals, and JPJ anchoring the whole goddamn thing. It’s pretty epic. This is good, primal stuff. Most rock bands now don’t understand the primal, they cover it up with glitter. But this is like listening to the White Stripes on mescaline.

I’m diggin’ it.
