Awwww, man. We can’t get a break this year in the world of manly rock. First Oasis goes their separate ways after releasing a good album, and now Steven Tyler decides he’s going to leave Aerosmith. What’s next? Is Jethro Tull going to stop playing the flute?
Aerosmith is one of the most legendary names in Punk/Hard-Rock. They’ve survived years of hard partying, years of hard playing, and years of being hard. Literally. I heard a story where Steven Tyler had an erection for half of a decade, and was too stoned to notice it. As you may recall, back in August, Tyler fell off a stage in South Dakota, breaking his shoulder. After the incident, Tyler reportedly didn’t talk to the band for a month. Now, guitarist Joe Perry reports:
Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.
Man, I will always remember listening to Aerosmith’s greatest hits of the ’80s when I was younger, then realizing they kinda sucked. Then discovering the Aerosmith of the ’70s, and thinking, this is one of the greatest bands ever. And they are. Pour some of your 40 out for the Smizzle.
