Legendary Paintings Painted With Coffee IN COFFEE

Coffee-1

Did your head explode yet from all the meta? It’s old news that people like to repaint classic paintings with new things in them. But new news is that they did it with coffee. Literally, in coffee. They repainted legendary paintings with coffee. Which must be incredibly difficult. Furthermore, they is not they, but she, that is one person: Karen Eland.

I can’t imagine the difficulty of painting paintings with paint. Imagine the difficulty of painting paintings with delicious coffee. There must be some kind of advantage, though, to the fact that you are painting with coffee. Like, the fumes keep you up. Karen paints with layers of espresso. Which gives credence to the old wives’ tale that all art is inspired by some form of drinking. But think of the difficulty of layering espresso on top of espresso on top of espresso. In addition, Karen adds one artistic flourish: the famous subjects are each clutching a cup of coffee.

Karen started the paintings when she was bored one day.

This is really incredible. I once had a friend who would go to art galleries and smell the paintings. Now she can appreciate the paintings, smell them, and it will no longer be slightly eccentric, just totally worth it.

Check them out.

  1. coffee seems like a fun medium … certainly better than some of the other “liquids” being used by “artists” these days.
