Hold the phones. Stop the presses, America. Your youth are whores who use technology for the basest of purposes. Also, your elder populace are whores? What am I getting at? We’re all whores, have a cookie.
In a new study released by Cosmogirl, yes, Cosmogirl, in co-ordination with The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 19% of non-Amish teenagers answered “yes” when asked if they had ever “sent a nude or semi-nude picture/video” of themselves to someone, via email, cell phone, or any electronic devices. Tablet PC’s, microwaves with displays, refrigerators, whatever. You know how the elderly complain that young people have cellphones? What they should be saying is, “Take that phone away from Katie, before she sends out pics of her vagina.” But the positive side is, at least these teenagers are preventing unplanned pregnancy. No issues there. Just possible psychological trauma.
This is a problem, because technically, taking a naked picture of yourself if you are under 18, you are creating and disseminating child pornography. So if you’re 17, and take pictures of your gennies, you could go to prison. Or if you release pictures of your girlfriend, without her knowing about it. So technically, 1 out of 5 kids should be in prison. Which does not sound fair. Child pornography charges have been brought against six girls in Pennsylvania in January for sexting their male classmates.
Basically, keep technology away from your genitals until you’re old enough to realize you’re making a bad decision. And if you’re a parent, tell your kids not to take pictures of themselves naked. Or demonstrate what could happen if that goes terribly wrong.
