Lil Wayne has been ordered to serve out a one-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to attempted weapons possession. The 27 year-old New Orleans rapper will be sentenced in February and is currently on $30,000 bail. The charge stemmed from a July 2007 incident in New York City after authorities found a loaded .40 Caliber pistol in the rappers tour bus.
The multi-platinum selling artist and self-proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive” doesn’t seem to let the idea of jail bother him. Spending most of his days in the studio or on tour, he’ll likely make good use of his jail time, provided he can work out a deal for house arrest.
Lil Wayne has beaten countless other gun charges in the past, but just couldn’t get away from this one. Experts say he was lucky to only get a one-year sentence, due to the fact that 3 1/2-5 years in prison is the norm for this type of charge.
