A legend, in his own mind.

A legend, in his own mind.

NBC, for the last few years, has been a prime example of how not to run a network. As in, DO NOT have the scion of a powerful television executive who probably has a penchant for drugs and insanity run your network. And DO NOT fire anybody directly responsible for the failure. Just fire the lower-levels.

And also, if you can, remake every terrible show from the ’70s. Put has-beens in your show, and if you have a slate of unique TV pilots, pick the crap that nobody in their right mind would watch. Run Saturday Night Live into the ground, and somehow take a show that has a free pass at the Emmys every year, and advertise it poorly, making it barely hold onto a 3-share. Officially, the word before was the purchase was just speculation by bored bloggers in their pajamas.

The new deal though, supposedly, would allow for Comcast to hold a 51% stake in NBC to GE’s 49%.

Really, all I want is for someone to guarantee that Ben Silverman will never get another chance to get his grubby paws on a television network and be allowed to make any major decisions. The guy just knows how to spend his daddy’s money and run a network into the ground. We don’t need TV execs to be ironically post-modern, we get enough of that from all angles already.
