Garth-Brooks-1In the 90’s, there were three best-selling artists. Elvis, The Beatles, and, proving the selling ability of country music, Garth Brooks. Garth Brooks has been a figurehead of the country movement since he first emerged from the oilfields of Oklahoma. Then, apparently, he dropped off the face of the earth.

Well, not completely. He released an album in 2000 as his alter-ego, Chris Gaines. Well, no more. No more taking time off to raise daughters. Garth Brooks is taking hisself to Las Vegas to put on a fancy show with the boots and the music and the singing and the guitar. A show full of country music for gambling people. A show that’d make Kenny Rogers proud and Merle Haggard piss himself. Garth Brooks played high-octane stadium shows with full bands in the mid-90’s, but apparently, casino owner Steve Wynn wants Brooks to play an intimate show, like you’d see in a saloon in the old west.

This sounds cool. Granted, I’ve never seen a show in Las Vegas, but whatever Garth Brooks does, will be ten times as awesome as whatever Celine Dion does. Seriously, whoever likes Celine Dion, and saw her in Las Vegas needs to re-evaluate their life.

Garth Brooks is a great country artist, and this’ll be interesting to see.

Better than what Celine Dion did? HAhahah i highly doubt it. Let me see him top 3.5 million people in 4 years 721 out of 730 sold out shows. The #1 US attraction during its run. Celine show brought life back to vegas, i can't see a country singer doing that. Let's be fair here... a country singer with his cowboy hat and guitar giving Celine competition? i dont think so. She even won an award for putting vegas back on the map. Entertainer of the New Millennium – Nevada Commission on Tourism - USA When it comes to vegas only 2 can help Vegas.... Celine and Elvis

Celine Dion did bring life back to Las Vegas and took a huge gamble that paid off on an even higher level. Garth Brooks really is not part of the new modern Vegas that is trying to be created!

I like annoying Celine Dion fans, because they're more boring than paint drying.

MarkLorenz, If your strategy for getting people to read your boring article was to target Celine Dion and making statements to annoy her fans, and then insult her fans.... you have lost my respect. your article started out so lovely, then became total trash. Why must you resort to lowering yourself ? I'm not a big Celine Dion fan but I admire her success and genuine talent. It sounded like a great idea to use Celine's name to get people to flock to you page ,Clearly adding her name brings you more views.I guess that's the only way to pull readers your way as garth's name wont do... And the only thing more boring than paint drying is listening to a grown man sing about roosters crowing , Long neck bottles and his Mama loving men...while driving a a truck through a corn field.

Garth Brooks is no competition for Celine Dion. Celine has truly proven herself to be in a league of her own. I can't wait to see all the hillbillies and trailer homes pulling up in Vegas to see their idol with his jeans and flannel shirt. Garth Brooks will truly bring class to Vegas.lol I would love to see him fill a 5000 seat arena every night for 5 years like Celine did.

It's hilarious that you guys hate it when I bash Celine Dion, then you bash Garth Brooks fans. Like they're more cray-cray and weird than obsessive French-Canadians.

Its not called bashing when its the truth. Garths main market are of the lower class. Its a fact not an insult. Country singers sound good but i prefer to listen to songs with better meaning. I really cant stand it when they sing about having a comb in their sleeve and eating a fish they caught with their bare hands down by a lake used for washing clothes and dishes. But hurray to garth if he comes back to work, im sure his fans miss him a lot. He would be no match for Celine and her lavish show in Vegas but i'm sure he would make his fans proud.

Celine Dion's show was worth the money and more . 60 dancers, a 3-story television , a massive stage set at an angle so everyone had a perfect view, optical illusions , people floating about , stairs and tress appearing from nowhere ...always something to catch the eye. Creating vegas history and a higher standard of entertainment. With all that around her , Her voice still lead the way as she demanded the stage , highlighting her talent and hitting those notes. Breathing life into each song and a forever changing surrounding to make every song seem like a new experience. That's what you need to do to succeed in Vegas, You need to go the extra mile. and ensure that after all the gambling and drinking your audience don't get bored. Every Vegas act complained of putting on a show for vegas visitors and not true fans that were drunk and tired, so you need to keep the energy level up. But Garth is going to do something unheard of in vegas. no glitz no glamor , no dancers , no stage girls , no energy....nothing on the stage other than him and his guitar. I love the idea of acoustic but I don't think Vegas is the place for it.
