Gyrofocus-1 Meet the Gyrofocus Fireplace. The new winner of the Pulchra design competition, essentially a beauty contest for beautiful objects. Complete with inanimate stage-moms and doting inventors. The Fireplace took first prize over legions of other beautifully designed objects, like cellphones, diamonds, and my glistening pec in the moonlight. The fireplace rotates 360 degrees, so beauty can pummel your face no matter where you sit. And the kicker? It was designed all the way back in 1968, before pens were invented, and designers had to plan their creations through the chain-mail they wore.

Doesn’t it look like a beautiful clam? A beautiful clam you can suspend from the ceiling? I want to own this, so on the three days it does rain in Los Angeles, I can read books, or just take time to appreciate beautiful clams that I can suspend from the ceiling. No word on the cost yet, but clearly, you can’t put a price on beauty.
