Just when we thought the auto industry was on its road to recovery, Ford Motor Company decides to recall 4.5 million vehicles. Apparently, a faulty light switch is the cause for this epic recall. The light switch has supposedly caused many fires with Ford vehicles and is ultimately Ford’s biggest recall ever.

According to the NHTSA the faulty switch can leak hydraulic fluid, overheat, smoke and then burn, and risks causing a fire even when the ignition is turned off, parked and unattended. Looks like Ford we’ll have to do some major reconstruction to become profitable again.

While the data show the majority of the vehicles being recalled do not pose a significant safety risk, we are recalling the vehicles to reassure customers and eliminate any future concerns. This recall affects older models, including discontinued vehicles. The majority is greater than 10 model years old, with some up to 18 model years old.
