By the power of Grayskull, I have the Weekend Movie Alert! Form of “Couples Retreat”! Shape of “Bronson”! When they form like Voltron, I’m the head! Okay, enough of that.
First up, let’s take a look at “Couples Retreat”, which brings back together Vince Vaughan and Jon Favreau. The movie follows four couples with various problems of their own as they spend time at a paradisical day spa. Unbeknownst to them, in order to stay at the spa, they have to participate in the couples counseling activities contained therein. This looks to be good clean screwball comedy, with Vaughan doing his typical fast-talking guy schtick, and the great Jason Bateman in fine form as the deadpan sarcasm dude. Oh, and the ladies are attractive as well. Check it out below:
Next up, something substantially more meaty. “Bronson” is the biopic of “the UK’s most violent prisoner”, Michael Peterson. Initially jailed for robbing a post office of £26.18 and receiving a sentence of seven years, Peterson remains in prison to this day due to his frequent abuses of prison rules. He has spent more time in solitary than any other prisoner, and just doesn’t seem to get it. “Bronson” the movie seeks to examine the man’s character a bit, and its highly stylized production makes the whole production feel sort of like an art piece. Hailed as this generation’s “A Clockwork Orange”, this could be something pretty interesting. Check out the trailer below:

so this "Bronson" movie, basically some pissed off dude looking to be #1 who tries to beat the shit out of anyone he can? i mean, if it's the "Clockwork Orange" of our generation or whatever, shouldn't there be some sort of social commentary as well? sure the initial sentence was overly harsh, but judging by the previews at least (I know, very little to judge by), it just looks like he enjoys his life, kicking ass whenever he can that about it?
