In an event that has tickled and delighted nerds everywhere, and especially the Japanese, Playboy has forgone the usual cover girl and instead settled on one that’s animated.

Marge Simpson. The image doesn’t really evoke timelessness and sexiness, but it’s in celebration of the longest running television comedy in history: The Simpsons. Which has done everything. If you’ve conceived of a plot, as South Park noted, the Simpsons has done it. Except for posing for Playboy. Or did they do that one? I’m not sure. I haven’t seen the show in like a decade. For all I know Maggie could’ve been killed off and replaced with a wacky rat.

The magazine features fold-outs, an article about the “Devil in Marge Simpson”, and a centerfold pullout. Yes. Just the thing to push my friends over the edge. I mean, they thought I was weird before, now I’m going to be hanging up giant pictures of iconic cartoon characters teasing me sexually, it should be enough to free a few spots of rent.

But I want to level with you for a second. If Playboy is going to have any cartoon character on their cover, it needs to be Ariel, the little mermaid. According to my nine-year-old self, she’s the hottest cartoon, alive. And always will be.
