“meli sufari” said it all. How the hell did a Neko article generate this many Celine fans? I’m not surprised about the backlash.

But let me make one thing clear:

All of you seem to be repeating the “I’ve never even heard of this Neko chick” thing again and again, “what gives her the right to criticize The Celine, who has suffered so, so much to blast her boney-assed pipes through our headsets”….Oh, wait, sorry, you’re Celine fans, you guys probably don’t even own headphones. Too cool and hip for you washed-up prats. Like indie artists. And people who make music that makes you think. And, UNLIKE The Celine, ARE NOT given millions by some company to take their shit and throw it at the wall to see if it sticks. It’s too bad the only way you lot can discover music is if the same songs are pumped at you on your car stereos again and again on your drive home, but for the rest of us, we know that Celine owes Neko and her contemporaries much, and it’s something Celine, and all of you, will surely never cease to bitch about because you’re too uninformed to realize what the hell is going on here.

Anyhow, Neko’s finally been nominated for a couple Grammy’s and maybe people will finally get the message, but let’s hope this doesn’t send her into “FEIST SYNDROME” where she starts doing iPod commercials and playing arenas. Much like skydiving or jumping on crocodiles for sport, you have no idea what a concert is like until you check out Neko Case playing a show in a small, packed church for a few hundred people. No idea. So don’t even bother arguing.

oh my god. whatever drag queen is on here with her lips on celine’s arse, get over it! there is no comparison with someone who is only a singer and someone who is an artist. an artist with a personal mythology, vision, who writes their own lyrics and music and who actually explores their inner self and/or pays homage to american music through out of the ordinary cover choices. celine is a singer. yeah, she’s great. but so what? you celine fans will always have your top 40 mainstream middle of the road no need to think about anything performers with lyrics written by someone else, always about love and heartbreak with the usual cliches and rhymes and verse verse chorus verse verse two minute long note hold bravado. it’s the same herd that would vote for palin. get in your mini vans, drink your box wine, and drive to the stadium to see the craziest canadian export ever. leave the finer things and their subtleties to those more intelligent.

I love (LOVE) Neko Case.
She’s phenomenal because not only is she talented, but she’s real. Her voice, lyrics and instrument playing are incredible and emotion-filled. At her shows it doesn’t feel like she’s trying to show off or deliver some show stopping belt-out of lyrics — it just happens naturally.
Finally….she’s obviously not afraid to speak her mind. And from the things I’ve heard thus far from her…I’d LOVE to hear more.

I can’t believe this lady said this about Celine. I looked up Neko Case and, well, she’s not a good singer. She lacks power, tone, technique… She records lots of cover versions because her own songs suck. Oh! She has won one award: Female Artist of the Year at the Plug Independent Music Awards in 2006. Nothing else.

Celine is a singer. That’s it (even though she has composed some songs)! And the best effin singer of my generation I must add. 41 years old and her voice sounds better than ever.

I’ll write in small sentences, because you all are Celine Dion fans.

Neko Case has had a career for 15 years. She will continue to have a career. She plays many instruments, and writes her own music. Celine Dion does not. Neko Case doesn’t give a flying fuck if a bunch of Celine Dion fans don’t like her music, because most of them are more boring than paint drying.

Hmm… this reads like a load of crap to me. I follow all types of genres of music from heavy rock to r&b and in my life no artist has remained more consistent than Celine Dion. There, I said it. I mean, who the hell can sing that strongly after all these years? The only person I’ve seen come close to maintaining their talent is Babs, but Celine, she’s truly in the league of greatness. Don’t forget it’s the producers who decide to use the auto-tune and refine the songs whichever way they choose. I remember watching Celine give a press conference at the Junos and she said she does not produce any of her songs… she simply shows up and sings the lines. And that’s her job for crying out loud. She’s a SINGER, not a damn songwriter/producer/superwoman like the other divas claim to be. Maybe if they didn’t spend so much time focusing on the production part, they’d have more energy to sound a bit more decent. And Neko, I almost attempted to take a quick listen to your stuff before I read your slore comments about Celine. I’m sure there’s a career in Communications somewhere out there for you since you clearly won’t be moving forward in the industry with that type of attitude. Shall I call you Mrs. Kanye West now?

Celine Dion is one of the greatest vocalists of our time. She has proven herself LIVE since she began her French career in the early 1980s. There are countless youtube links for anyone to see themselves. There is a reason she has sold over 200 million records — genuine, Olympic size talent. I don’t even know who Neko is???
