“Kate Plus 8″: Too Late?

60363869---kate_gosselinNews from your favorite network and mine, the TLC confirms that it’s dropping Jon Gosselin from the previously-named “Jon and Kate Plus 8″, making the newly-revamped show “Kate Plus 8″. “Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” said the network. “We feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.”

This fails me for two reasons. One, I can’t stand Kate Gosselin. Two, I think Jon’s story is much more interesting. It would be challenging for any male to take care of a child while trying to work his mojo with a new woman who might just be into him for the notoriety of it, but 8 young children is a massive task for a new bachelor. Just imagine the hilarity and hijinks that would ensue! It’s be like … “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”, or “Eight Is Enough”, or something similar.

Just think about how many more opportunities there are to see Jon screw something up. Let’s watch him make breakfast for 8 and forget to have picked up syrup for the pancakes. Distracted, he goes to the pantry to find something suitable, trips over one of his boys and goes down, pulling on an electrical cord in the process. Sparks fly, the kitchen goes up in flames, kids screaming, he gets ‘em all out in time. Next episode: finding a new apartment. See? It writes itself!

So, TLC wants to keep this franchise running, and hopes that Kate Home Alone will keep my interest, but it’s too late. My hate for Kate is great — it’s something they can’t sate. Guess it’s just her fate. Can’t wait ’til she gains weight!

Joh I agree they aren't much of a different family that any other one. I think this whole situation has gotten out of control.
