Arcade Cabinet + Kegerator = The Arkeg

Arcade Cabinet + Kegerator = The Arkeg

Here at Manolith, we’re big fans of any gadget that simplifies our lives by combining a couple things we simply can’t live without. In this case the fine folks at DrinkNGame.com have created the perfect addition to every guy’s apartment. By virtue of modern technology, they’ve managed to combine a virtually limitless number of classic arcade and console games inside of one stand-up cabinet that still has room to support your other hobby: beer drinking. The Arkeg includes a fully pressurized draft system that keeps a 5 gallon keg of your favorite brew cold and ready to go at a moment’s notice.

For those of you searching for a way to relive the glory days of button-mashing at the mall arcade will find the Arkeg sports a 24-inch HD screen to make those old 8-bit games easier on the eyes, and a stereo system complete with subwoofer that will zapping space rocks in Asteroid sound even sweeter than you remember. The digital temperature control will keep the keg cool, while the protected screen is handy in case you or your beer starts to sweat during a heated Paperboy session. The whole thing comes pre-loaded with 68 other classics like Gauntlet and the whole Mortal Kombat series, but you’re free to expand that with console games downloaded from the internet (it’s legal, assuming you own the original cartridge). The Arkeg will even play flash games and anything that can run on a Windows XP PC.

If you can spare it, the $3999 starting price gets you the complete gaming and drinking system assembled and ready to go in your apartment. But for a few bucks more they’ll even customize your cabinet to look like your old favorites or add additional controls and a backlit marquee.

It might seem like a steep price, but just think of all the quarters you’ll be saving.

Not bad. Not that I could afford it or anything, but if I was a rich-motherfucker, well, yeah why not. Seems pretty cool.
