Unearthed Playstation Ad Fails To Entice

unairedadSome of you might be familiar with writer Warren Ellis, the visionary behind the modern classics Transmetropolitan, Planetary, and The Authority, among others. If you don’t know who he is, go find some of the mentioned work; it’s awesome. Regardless, Ellis has turned up an unaired Playstation ad video during his Internet meanderings, and it’s not hard to see why it never went live.

Owing a great deal to the imagery of the Oliver Stone Vietnam movie “Platoon”, and featuring a messed-up modification of the song “Forever Young” by 80’s band Alphaville, the ad seems to be saying that the experience of gaming on a Playstation is so immersive that you’ll really feel like you’re dying from bullet wounds on a battlefield somewhere. And what better way to entice me into wanting to buy something than telling me it will help me experience death.
