A mystery creature is the new buzz in Panama this morning after four teenagers found this UFO-like “thing” lurking in the caves. According to reports, the teenagers beat the creature to death, claiming self-defense. Afterward they took pictures which they submitted to Panamanian authorities.
As of now, it is unclear what the creature is, and tests are still being done to find out. From the pictures I can’t really make out any sensible predictions as to what type of animal this could be. It almost looks like the illegitimate child of the “Pillsbury Doughboy” and a snake. Maybe?
If any of you have an idea of what this creature might be, we would definitely appreciate your answer in the comments section.

Best guess? Alien. Second best guess? Hybrid-mutant created from the daily sludge found around the Panama Canal. Either way: the future!

All of the science blogs I've looked at regarding this seem to agree that it's a sloth that has somehow lost its hair. The concensus seems to be that it was washed out to sea, then washed back in, hence the bloated midsection. The kids' claims that they stoned it were either imagined (they stoned an already dead animal), or exaggerated (as kids that age will tend to do). I'm holding off on an opinion on what it is. I have to say the 'claw' in the pictures I have seen are very sloth-like.

whatever it is, it hardly looks dangerous... Did they say how it "came toward them"? did it run? crawl? slither? was it brandishing a weapon? kind of sh*tty to beat it to death if it wasn't immediately threatening

Hey Frak01 give these kids a break... I probably would've done the same thing if I seen a thing like that trying to attack me... then again i probably would've given it a chance if it wasn't "brandishing a weapon"

Agree...looks like a sloth that lost it's fur. Look at the long legs and arms. The claws even look sloth like. The nostrils and eyes look like they are in the correct place. Kinda hard to tell about the teeth. Also, body may be bloated due to trauma or decomposistion. Look at this pic of a sloth. http://www.flickr.com/photos/acupunctureman/89276890/

It's a sloth. Look at the claws. The kids never said it was attacking them....simply moving toward them. If this poor guy turns out to be a sloth, which I'm certain it will, there is no way it can move fast enough to appear threatening.

You guys are full of it. That is no sloth, its arms are too skinny to hold up such weight and look at the eyes....when was the last time you saw a sloth outside of the forest?....sloth....whatever!!

sloths have eyes in the front of their heads and this creature has them on the sides.
