UPDATE: According to the LA Times, Yorba Linda Assemblyman Michael Duvall resigned from office this afternoon amidst controversy regarding the recently released audio tapes (in which he admitted to having an affair with two different lobbyists).

Michael Duvall considers himself to be a family man, two kids, a wife, you know, the whole works. He’s also an elected politician from Orange County, a values-led conservative and is against gay marriage. How nice, right? Oh yeah, and he’s been caught cheating on his wife, twice. According to reports from the OC Weekly and KCAL, the Yorba Linda Assemblyman was caught last June boasting to a fellow legislator about his extra-marital sexual conquests. Pretty graphically too.

The conversation, which took place prior to a committee meeting in Sacramento, was picked up by a live microphone, and thus taped. In it, Duvall divulged that one, of the two mistresses, wore “little eye-patch underwear” and then said, “I like spanking her. She goes, ‘I know you like spanking me.’ I replied, ‘Yeah! Because you’re such a bad girl!’” And that’s not even the worst of it.

Later the Assemblyman told a short sex story (note: it gets pretty gross here), “So, the other day she came here with her underwear, Thursday. And so, we had made love Wednesday – a lot! And so she’ll, she’s all, ‘I am going up and down the stairs, and you’re dripping out of me!’ So messy!”

So messy … well put, I suppose. After all, not only are the two women he slept with married themselves, they are both also lobbyists. And to top it all off, one of them, Heidi DeJonb Barsuglia, is a lobbyist for the energy company, Sempra Energy. Which since Duvall is the vice-chair of the Utilities and Commerce committee (a committee in charge of energy policy), is a big deal. Especially as he recently voted to help energy companies, like Sempra, avoid environmental regulations.

I wonder who the colleague he was talking to was. Probably another anti gay marriage, family values Republican douchebag, yeah? Wouldn't surprise me. How sleazy.

As most everyone now well knows, "I am for Family Values" translates to "I am into some seriously freaky stuff." Also, his comments about it being a 'private matter' are outrageous. He was at work as a public official, bragging to his colleague about his affairs. That part is just plain stupidity, but the affairs are with 2 lobbyists who just happen to work for energy firms while he is vice chair of the Committee on Utilities & Commerce. Now that stinks to high heaven of corruption. Which makes this a very public matter.

It's not a private matter when the legislation that you promote is the exact opposite which you live and that which ostracizes and discriminates against other. Another republican scumbag.

I don't understand what the big deal is. I thought an Assemblyman's job was to bang lobbyists?

These 'family values' Republicans are such hypocrites! Another 'do as I say, not as I do' guy! And what is more of a 'family value' than being faithful to your wife! Not to mention the corruption of sleeping with lobbyists you do business with! The Democrats aren't perfect, but at least they don't preach to others and tell them how to live their lives! The Republicans don't want government involved in their 'businesses' i.e. big corps, but it's fine if the government gets into your 'personal business' and tells you who you can marry, what you can do with your own body, etc. Sorry for the long rant - this got me going!
