15 Most Ridiculous Car Mods

By Paul J on August 31st, 2009

People LOVE making stupid modifications to their cars, taking pictures of them, then posting them on the web. This post is long overdue.

I couldn’t decide between “Awesome car mods”, “Terrible car mods”, or “Stupid car mods”, so I just threw all three together into “Ridiculous car mods”, and I’ll let you sort out what’s what. By the way, there are tons of these out there, so hit Google if you’re looking for more, but these are the weirdest 15 I’ve ever found.

1) Hummer Tank

Somehow, even less fuel efficient than the original.

2) Pig Mobile

3) Redneck Spoiler

4) WTF?

No seriously, WTF.

5) Obese Cadillac

I don’t even know how they did this.

6) Ghetto Racecar

7) Solid Gold Car

Just wow.

8) Yes, I Need Eight Headlights

9) Makes sense.

10) Picasso’s Baller Ride

11) Turtle Car

12) Improvised Stretch Limo

Because even rednecks deserve to ride in style.

13) WTF part 2

Why?

14) Redneck Spoiler part 2

15) Nintendo Controller Engine

If it breaks down, you can just blow on it.

Number 8 is a standard rally light on a subaru Impreza, is MAKES sense when yuo drive at 150kph in a narrow forest gravel track at night.

Actually #8 is just a rally Subaru outfitted with a night race light-pod. And, yes, you do need 8 headlights when going 120MPH on a 6ft wide gravel course surrounded by a trees and cliffs.

There needs to be a picture of the Obese Cadillac at a McDonals's drive-through.

The author needs to do more research before calling things "ridiculous mods." #8 is perfectly legit/functional.

This light pod is on a Corolla, but it illustrates the idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vkCld4V9tk

#2 (the Pig Benz) was modded into a pig for a Greenpeace demonstration against Gas Guzzlers in front of Mercedes HQ in Stuttgart, Germany. #5 is an art object by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm. Look him up, he makes fantastic stuff. And #12 looks a lot like an official Eastern European limousine from the Communist era, no mod involved here.

the "redneck spoiler"'s are obviously people just having a bit of fun and joking about car modders. i still don't understand why someone would buy a rubbish car and spend tens of thousands making it into a retard mobile... the japanese are mad crazy about everything, i worry about them sometimes :) (those mental vans)

#4 and #13 will be from Japan. I'm sure there's a name for the practice but I can't remember what it is and the only thing I'm finding via Google right now is vanning.

I LOVE it when these little backwards-hat wearing jackasses who lean when they drive get huge spoilers for their cars--not even KNOWING what a spoiler does or how the one theyv'e bought affects the car. lol Nothing like seeing a Civic buzzing away from a red light with something that looks like a bookcase on the trunk that does absolutely NOTHING but make the driver look a dope. Love it.

The vans are BOSO style vans in JAPAN, its a huge deal there, the amount of work and money to build those is incredible, I would love to build one myself. Japan is so far ahead of us in the car scene, its crazy. the vans are sick.

The Japanese Art Trucks are called "Dekotora", they're pretty nuts! I'm pretty sure the Vans are called "Vanning" and the cars are "Boso"..? I THINK that's what they are, I may be wrong! But yeah the Japanese are so wild in their diverse styling! From stunning looking JDM style, to their insane over done wild styles!

#1 is Mattracks, you can get them for just about any truck or SUV, there is an economy cost since the gearing drops your speed 40%. You can get them for quads as well. Once I have enough money that 5 grand is disposable, I will have some on my Jeep.

no4 and no13 are Bosozoku style from Japan, roughly translates into "Violent Running Tribe", used to be all about crazy modded bikes but now it seems to be cars, MPVs and trucks. These 2 aren't even that crazy compared to what's out there in the Bosozoko world, kinda cool tho!
