Well, look what the cat dragged in … two more weekend movie trailers! This time around we’re taking a look at “Big Fan” and “Halloween 2″.
So, comedian Patton Oswalt is funny as hell. He’s self-deprecating, admits his geek nature freely, and has some of the most telling and vicious insights into humanity since Bill Hicks. And yet, seeing him in the trailer for “Big Fan”, you have no trouble believing in his character as an obsessed, social misfit who lives at home with his mother who he clearly despises. I’m excited to see Oswalt perform, yet I kind of don’t want to go to where this film looks like it’s gonna take me. The trailer does a great job of ramping up the dread until the final few seconds, where it seems to lead the viewer to an inevitable conclusion … but I suppose we’ll have to see the movie to find out for sure. Next up, “Halloween 2″, written and directed by Rob Zombie. Right off the bat, I gotta say I love Rob’s style. His scenes look grimy and gritty and you are absolutely there with the characters as they go through Hell. But hearing that he’d taken on one of horror’s iconic monsters had me a little ill at ease. Would he be able to pull it off, or would he be hamstrung by the expectations of the audience? I hear you get to see Michael Myers’s face in this. Will that play? The trailer makes a pretty damned good case. Watch it below:
