425.survivor.samoa.cast.lc.082709The castaways for the 19th season of Survivor have been announced, along with the opening twist for this season’s show, which is held in Samoa. This year there will be 20 members to the cast, which host Jeff Probst describes as ” … actually looks like they’d be fun to hang out with.” Ooh, way to diss all previous casts, Jeff!

The twist revealed immediately to the cast members once they’d all arrived is that the two tribes must immediately pick a member among them who will lead them and make all decisions, without being able to discuss it beforehand. They’ll have to trust a complete stranger with their fates, based on nothing more than gut instinct.

Furthermore, CBS has announced in promos for the show that “One of these castaways will become the biggest Survivor villain ever,” though it isn’t clear exactly how this plays out.

I stopped watching this show years ago, after it became increasingly clear exactly how managed the “storylines” are. And this announcement about the biggest villain just confirms to me that they’re going way overboard in trying to maintain interest in the aging franchise. And the next season supposedly being a “good vs. evil” kind of thing makes me glad I’ve quit.
