Steven Seagal: LAWMAN!

stevenseagallawmanHoly crap, everyone calm down and stop screaming for a moment. I gotta write this up. It began with Chuck Norris’s “Walker: Texas Ranger”. A world famous martial artist puts himself into the shoes of a tough-but-fair cop meting out his particular brand of justice, karate style. On paper, it was the most stupid premise ever, and the show itself isn’t too far removed from ridiculousness — remember when Walker stared down a grizzly bear? — but by God’s Stirrups, was it ever popular.

And now, the tradition continues with “Steven Seagal: Lawman”, on A&E. Seriously! The Arts and Entertainment channel has picked up this reality show about Steven Seagal’s nearly two-decade stint as the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office equivalent of a special forces merc. Apparently he’s been doing this under the radar all this time and nobody knew about it.

So, if you’ve been jonesing for some Seagal action but are tired of his direct-to-DVD offerings, here’s a chance to see the man himself in real life action. And say what you will about his movies, his attitude, his guitar playing ability — the guy’s the real deal when it comes to aikido, which is a great art to know when on the beat. Dude, come on, he even cut his ponytail for this. That’s how serious he is about law enforcement. Check out the trailer below while I go lie down.
