If you catch that reference, you are my true friend. But holy crap, I’d actually somehow managed to forget about this project! Ladies and gentlemen, Benicio Del Toro IS The Wolfman:
Forget Teen Wolf! Forget the Lycans! Forget that puppydog from “Van Helsing”! But don’t forget “An American Werewolf In London“; that one’s still good. But this is the real deal right here! Lawrence Talbot is finally back, and judging by this trailer, it looks like they’re doing his legacy justice.
Now, ask anyone who knows me: I’ve always been a werewolf fan. Vampires? Ehnh, not so much. So every time I see something like the trailer for the next “Twilight” movie, with the werewolf transformation at the end, I get a little excited. But to my mind, no one’s been able to really do a good job with the concept since … let’s say Jack Nicholson’s “Wolf”. But hey, take a look at Benicio, will you?
First of all, Benicio Del Toro is an amazing actor. I’ve enjoyed his intensity in every movie of his I’ve seen, from “Traffic” to “The Hunted”. He’s been keeping quiet recently, probably just to take a well-deserved break. But clearly, he can do feral like nobody’s business. Will this movie bring him back the accolades he deserves?
Also, check it out: Hugo Weaving! Another fine actor who, though he’ll probably live with the stigma of Agent Smith the rest of his days, still brings passion to his roles. It’ll be a pleasure to watch him match up against Del Toro in this. This can’t get here soon enough! BAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
