Manolith Team:

I enjoyed your list, but was disappointed at the lack of representation across ethnic boundaries presented. Obviously I recognize this compilation was formed purely for entertainment purposes, and is rather subjective -- But I think in the roughly 80 years of American commercial television programming that exits (and even longer for motion pictures), there would have been at least a cursory nod to productions that encapsulate additional ethnic-perspectives and experiences.

An easy example is The Cosby Show... Arguably, a more socially-accessible show starring an African American family has never existed (save possibly for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) - both of which had extremely stirring and powerful interactions between Father and Son figures. If you wanted to get a little more cerebral, we could throw in "Dances With Wolves," as a larger metaphor for acceptance and validation... Which is frankly the backbone of the Father/Son dynamic.

Anyway, this isn't a real rant. I was skulking around twitter, Gear Patrol tossed up a link - And @BenBowersGP suggested I mention this to y'all. I just wanted to say you guys have an impressive readership, and I would hope you continued to reach out beyond the simplest common denominators. Love your site, keep it up.

Whoever put this article together should be feel ashamed. I grew up near Fred West and knew his father. As the Wests threw back the Stella in the Black Cross I witnessed some of the worst exchanges between man and boy. Jim the executive filmed some of the worst banter-lord knows what that would be worth now.

You left out the best one ever. It's from King of the Hill where Hank explains soccer to Bobby. These quotes aren't exact:

Hank: Soccer was invented by French ladies so they had something to do while their husbands cook dinner.

Bobby: Why do you hate what you don't understand?

Hank: I don't hate you, Bobby.

Bobby: I was talking about soccer.

Hank: Oh, yes. I hate soccer.

J.R. LeMar beat me to it. That Huxtable moment is #1, and the list is worthless without it. Sorry.

Agreed, Blow should have definitely made it.

"Money isn't real, George. It doesn't matter. It only seems like it does."

and

"Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on."

Oh, come on! How could you forget what was clearly the #1 Father/Son TV Moment?!?

Cliff Huxtable, grabbing a bunch of Monopoly money, and explaining the basics of economics to his son, Theo, who doesn't want to go to college, and simply aspire to become a "regular person," like a bus-driver or gas station attendant.

When Theo reacts with disbelief @ the amount of taxes he'll have to pay, and Cliff says "Yeah, cuz the government comes for the REGULAR PEOPLE first," you know you're about to hear some true words of wisdom.
