Monty Python Reunites For 40th Anniversary

Monty Python 32I will refrain from seeding this post with far too many Python quotes in the interest of keeping the goodwill of the audience, but just know that if I wanted to, I could bury you all in Flying Circus references. Be that as it may, Python fans rejoice! The five surviving members of the famous comedy troupe — John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam — will come together in New York on Oct. 15 at the Ziegfeld Theater.

Though it’s not been said what exactly the show will entail, the official press release hints that deceased sixth member Graham Chapman will be making an appearance, but will not be available for the after-show Q and A session.

There is a reason for this event beyond simple goodwill toward its legions of fans; the Independent Film Channel is using it to promote the new six-hour documentary entitled “Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut)”, which will also screen at the event.

And finally, the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) will award the Python troupe with a special award to recognize their outstanding contributions to film and television. So, there’s a metric ton of awesomeness awaiting New York residents, and tickets should sell out pretty quickly. There, I knew I could do it! Made it all the way through without one quote or reference. That’s what comes of always looking at the bright side of life! … aw, crap.
