From time to time, we here at the Manolith offices receive some pretty sweet swag packages. You know, due to the fact that we are such important taste makers and all. What? You mean you’re not up to date on the super-awesome automatic pancake machine or the even-awesomer dissolvable bikini? Really?

Anyway, the point is, sometimes we get boxes of cool stuff. The current case making the rounds at the Manolith HQ is a nice looking package of Starbucks newest 15-ounce ready-to-drink, uh, drink: the Doubleshot Energy + Coffee. And, before I go any further – boy oh boy is it tasty. Yep. It is some real good drink. Especially for those low-on-sleep-and-likes-coffee-but-could-use-a-little-more-oomph-in-the-morning kind of drinkers (i.e. me).

Like all good things (the first Star Wars movies, the Musketeers and the Steve Martin led Amigos), this Starbucks drink comes in three: Coffee, Mocha & Vanilla. And they’re all worth your time. Myself, I like the Coffee flavor as it tastes like, uhm, coffee. However, the Mocha and Vanilla flavors are good too, just a little sweeter. You know, more for the likes of you who like to put strange stuff like sugar and cream into your morning cup.

As to the Energy portion of the Energy + Coffee Doubleshot, it also does the trick. With similar amounts of caffeine to other energy drinks, like Red Bull and Monster, it gives you that extra boost you need. However, unlike those other energy drinks, it also tastes good too. This is because, despite the fact that it contains B Vitamins, guarana, ginseng and natural proteins, it doesn’t taste like it contains B Vitamins, guarana and so forth.

Paired along with the new drink is a – surprise, surprise – new promotion as well. This one is pretty good though. Set up with a nice office-friendly website – energypluscoffee.com – visitors are invited to, like, stick it to The Man, and stuff. That is, the website pulls off the old looks-like-it’s-work-but-it’s-not-work look. Instead, it’s got a lot of fun fake-news (Hello, The Onion!), fun games and other work-week diversions. And it’s even got a built in boss cam that is activated any time your boss walks by – so long as you have a webcam. Not bad.

Anyway, the drink is good. If you like, you can try it for yourself at your local 7-11, gas station, grocery store or wherever else you typically buy energy drinks. Enjoy.
