Hey so guys what are you doing a week from Monday? Did you like Office Space? How about free stuff? Ever have that one dream with Kirsten Wiig, Mila Kunis and a can of WD-40?

Manolith got it’s hands on ten tickets to the red carpet premiere of Extract at the Arclight in Hollywood on August 24th, and we wanna give ‘em to you, really we do. We’re all aflutter over Extract here at The Manolith, but we don’t think Miramax will let the Staff hoard all the tickets (despite substantial groveling). So, embarking on a democratic mission to disperse the tickets to our most deserving readers, Manolith has decided to host a contest.

Everyone enjoys contests, they are like mini carnivals on the internet! And because we also enjoy being culturally relevant, the contest involves twitter as de rigeur. All we want you to do is:

  1. Watch the trailer for Extract.
  2. Tell us you favorite Mike Judge Movie Moment and send it to us via twitter (you do follow us on twitter, right?). Honestly folks, if you want the tickets it will come down to creativity, so get right-brain with it, send a twitpic, whatever you like, just be sure to include the “@manolith #extract” tag in your reply.
  3. OR

  4. Just leave a comment in this post telling us your favorite Mike Judge Movie Moment
  5. To better your odds do both and refer a friend!
  6. The contest is for the awesomely rad tickets to the premiere, not for travel arrangements (as in: we’re not responsible for airline or hotel or anything like that). However, if you win and live out of the area and can get your ass to Los Angeles on the 24th, it’s all yours.

Extract

We’ll pick the best ones at Random and put them in a follow up post announcing the winners.  We’ll be giving them away in pairs, meaning many will enter the Thunderdome but only ten will emerge victorious. This a real deal premiere, otherwise known as a great opportunity to say fuck it and finally ask out that ten from the office. If you can’t impress the girl of your dreams with a red carpet premiere, well good luck my friend, I hope you can play guitar.

All you have to do is send a tweet and a fabulous lifestyle of red carpet premieres could be your reality… for the night at least.

Good luck!

the best part is in office space where peter is trying to convince michael to do the computer virus. it goes: micheal: "this is bullshit. me and samir and the best programmer they have and they fire us. you haven't even been showing up and they do nothing to you" peter: "actually, i'm getting promoted." michael: "what?!"

My favorite Mike Judge moment is in Idiocracy when Frito is watching Ow, My Balls! It's so idiotic, it's hilarious.

The best Mike Judge Movie Moment is in Office Space when one of the Bob's says: "We're gonna be getting rid of these people here... First, Mr. Samir Naga... Naga... Naga... Not gonna work here anymore, anyway. "

  8. Robin Black

    August 13th, 2009 - 1:37:00 PM

My favorite Mike Judge movie moment is in Office Space when even Lawrence doesn't want anything to do with Peter (Peter, depressed and desperate, knocks on wall, asks Lawrence if he wants to come over). Muffled, through the wall: "Nah, man. I don't want you fuckin' up my life, too." When you've lost Lawrence, you know you're in deep shit.

For some reason, a part of Office Space that always cracked me up is when Samir Nayenanajad and Michael Bolton are talking to Tom Smykowski's lawyer Rob Newhouse about prison and he asks why they are so curious. Michael freaks out in defense and accidentally throws the contents of his drink cup into the air and a big ice cube hits Samir right in the head. I don't know why I remember it, but it always cracks me up.

Tom Smykowski: It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

another one from office space. when peter, michael and samir are talking in peter's apartment about planting the virus:] peter: "we have to swear to God that we aren't going to tell anyone about this, not our friends, girlfriends, family,no one." neighbor: "don't worry, man, i won't tell anyone either!" michael: "who the fuck is that?!" peter: "oh don't worry, he's cool"

My favorite Mike Judge moment is in Office Space when they take that copy/fax machine out into the field and take out all their pent-up wrath out on that thing. The gangster rap music in the background is the perfect emphasis to the mood of the moment. I can't help buy crack up every time the one dude does the wrestler move on it and drop-kicks the crap out of it. I want to do the same thing with the machines in my office!!

The best Mike Judge moment is from the opening credits of Office Space. This is an LA contest so we all know too well the frustrations of traffic. I would say I am more like "Samir Naga...Nage...Naga...Not gonna work here anymore anyway" and my frustrations get let out on the steering wheel. But watching Peter and Samir deal with traffic was the best. And then Michael Bolton (like the "no-talent ass clown" singer songwriter) "Mother-shitter! Son of an ass! I just...!"

Favorite Mike Judge Movie Moment... from Office Space when Michael Bolton (not the singer) is standing in front of the fax machine and the fax beeps indicating there is an error and he responds "PC Load Letter... What the F@#% does that mean?" It's such a nice detail that happens in everyday working life that only Mike Judge picks up on and puts in his movies!

I have written a screenplay for Jason Bateman called The Adventures of Plan B, so I really need to be on the red carpet, to give him his copy. My fav. Mike Judge moment? "What would you do if you had a million dollars?" "Two chicks at the same time."

Best scene is the celebration after the fax machine beatdown. Never would have guessed Samir had dancing skills.
