Mike Judge has been one of America’s counterculture icon’s for decades now. Beavis & Butthead got us in trouble for making us want to play frogball and Office Space made us collect unemployment after it inspired us to quit our jobs. King of the Hill has managed to stay hilarious and relevant for countless seasons, balancing its genius on a seesaw made of campy and clever. While Idiocracy didn’t break box office records, it certainly struck a blow to the American collective consciousness, reminding us where the path to bigger and better cheeseburgers and the easy life will take us two years before Wall-E did.
With Extract, Mike Judge’s new film coming out Labor Day, we are hoping to see all the pieces come together in one delicious Jason Bateman led package. This may be not Kristen Wiig’s first movie role but it is certainly one of her most prominent and she deserves it, being one of the brightest lights to grace the SNL stage in years A story based around the small business man’s eternal struggle with a world that just wants to put him down, one can’t help but be excited for how Mike Judge will skewer and jab our modern society.
Obviously any red blooded human is pumped over this one, and we also wish this movie blockbuster success, in hopes that Mike Judges cerebral humor will leak out and save us from a Hollywood overran with one-liner spouting bros. The folks at Miramax were nice enough to send us some posters a little bit before everybody else. We’ve got Jason Bateman embodying the movies tone with a little sad clown vibe and Mila Kunis bringing the sexy-sex.
Ben Affleck is apparently embracing his inner Joaquin Phoenix for this movie and nobody, and I mean nobody complains about Ben Affleck in a beard. Check em out, watch the teaser trailer, and get ready for Labor Day and the heir apparent to Office Space.
